HIS STORY AND HIS MUSICAL JOURNEY
Robert James Hobson, Bobby J, has had an illustrious career as a beloved popular lead singer, prolific percussionist, and gifted Drummer. He played the bongos and drums in the popular Thunderbirds – Bertie Brothers Band and was one of the lead singers and drummer of the revered GI’s Brass. He also competed in the 1973 Brass O’ Rama Competition held in St. Thomas and won. In 1973, the band changed its name to Ellie Matt & The GI’s Brass, toured the Caribbean and released its first album “Having A Jolly Good Time”
As an accomplished Drummer and Percussionist Bobby J, can transition between Calypso, Soca, Reggae, Dancehall, Country, Gospel, Smooth Jazz, Pop, Rock and Fusion music.
In 1974, Bobby J relocated to Canada and continued his musical pursuits. He was the Drummer for Bridge, a Canadian rock-and-roll band; lead singer and Drummer of Caraballo, a Caribbean band and was a member of the rock band Tight Squeeze and lead singer of Keepsake. He formed his own dance band “Code 7” in 1983.
In 2012, along with Jim Stoeber, they formed the Kaya Music Reggae Band and an album “Little Bit” written and produced by Jim was released.
Bobby J, Bruce Skerritt, Eddie Staxx ( Oliver Glasford), and Marguerite Arthurton who were represented by Rhythm Of The Beat, the management company, Bobby J founded, performed at the 2018 St.Kitts Music Festival. View Here
Bobby J, continues to write and produce his own music. In 2017 he released his single, a remake of the late Sugar Minot/Michael Jackson song, “Good Thing Going.”
In 2020 released the single “What The World Needs Now”
In 2021 released his UK hit single “ I Believe -Tomorrow Will Be A Better Day”.
Bobby J , currently play drums and sings backup with the Kim Reimer Country Rock Band in Winnipeg , Manitoba.
He is also currently working on his 5th Album, which is expected to be released in 2024
INSPIRATION
Ever since I was young, I have been fascinated by the art of cooking and the way my mother (Mama) prepared her meals. It was from her I developed all my skills, art of cooking and using spices. I love experimenting with different flavours, spices, and ingredients to create delicious and unique dishes. I also love hosting dinner parties, where I can share my love for cooking and my dishes with friends and family.
My passion for wine making, is to use various fruits and their scraps of skins ,cores and other parts, to turn into a delicious and complex alcoholic beverage .
Both cooking and winemaking are all about sharing and connecting with others and I am excited to have this platform to share my passion.
My hope is to inspire others to try new things, experiment with flavours and connect with others through cooking and winemaking.
I can’t wait to see where this journey takes us next.

TRAINING THAT ENHANCES RAW TALENT
FOR THE LOVE OF MUSIC
Most people can learn to play by ear. To do that, they must be dedicated and feel confident in themselves, that they can do it. Playing by ear, gives you, the freedom, to be creative when playing beats or rhythms, allowing you to play with feeling and emotion, thus enabling you to establish a groove much easier, than if you were following or reading a chart.
In the end, one has either got the ability, to play by ear or not play by ear.
My method of teaching voice or percussion, may seem unorthodox to some, but with dedication, and a strong commitment to practice daily and consistently, I have no doubt that with my training, you can become a very good vocalist, drummer or percussionist.
This method of singing, learning to play drums or percussion, is unique and very real.
I know, it has worked for me!

PET LOVER
I have been a pet lover since I can remember. I have had many pets, birds, guinea pigs, rabbits and dogs over the years. Each one has left a lasting impression on my heart. I cherish the moments I spend with them.
Having my dogs as my home companions, whether cooking them their special meal, cuddling on the couch, playing fetch in the park, or taking long walks and enjoying mother nature, has been very good for my well being and mental state.
I understand the importance of spending quality time with them, and it is up to us to ensure they have a happy and healthy life.
I am excited to share my love for my pets with the hope to inspire others to love and care for them as much as I do.

Multiple Training On
Music And Voice
With the aim of helping the student, become able to play, hear and feel the music they are listening to. I provide them with the training, on how to play the Drums, Bongos, Congo Drums, Djembe, Talking Drums, Quica, Timbales, Shakers, Cabasa and many other percussive instruments. This training would help them, in gaining the confidence to perform live and building the natural ability to feel the music within themselves and their surroundings. I provide training that will surely enhance the student’s natural talent and musical abilities.
I also provide my own Unique way of voice training. With over 20 years of voice training and coaching that I took, after straining and severely damaging my vocal chords, to the point where I had to take speech therapy, just to be able to speak and pronounce certain words. With those teachings, I have combined all the different techniques and training received from the many coaches that I have had over the years, came up with my own unique, entertaining and enjoyable process of training the voice. I teach the proper way of Breathing, Warm Ups, Diction, Tonation, Expanding your Range and Blending, all processes needed to perform flawlessly and with confidence.
